We are happy to announce the beta version release of the long awaited PLEX Device Manager V2.0 software. Along with this new version, we are also releasing updates on the firmware of our dash displays which enhance functionality and add sophisticated features suitable for highly demanding projects.
The Device Manager V2.0 will initially support the SDM-550 and the new SDM-330 (coming soon) displays and will gradually extend support for the SDM-700, the new revised VMU-900 and more new products that are coming later this year.
New Software feature highlights
- Capability to select the communication interface between USB, Ethernet, Wifi and Can Bus depending on the device
- Simpler device configuration from hierarchical tree with search function to quickly navigate to the desired section
- Pop up help tips on most configuration items and controls
- Improved streaming of real time data channel values and raw can bus messages
- New and improved firmware update interface
- Configuration compare function
New SDM-550/SDM-700 configuration features
GENERAL
- Extended user notes section
- More flexible internal/display units system for all data channels
CAN BUS (click for image)
- CAN Bus channels can be grouped by CAN Bus device making identification easier
- New CAN Bus receive setup wizard to easily load the correct CAN Bus channels and CAN port settings from predefined templates
- New transmit message type for CAN gateway functionality. Allows retransmitting a CAN bus message with another ID on the same or other CAN Bus port
- New CAN transmit configuration DBC export function (click for image)
ANALOG
- Ratiometric option to scale input voltage based on the 5V power supply voltage. This option increases precision with certain types of sensors (click for image)

USER FLAGS
- Very configurable user flags with complex trigger and reset conditions including compare, edge detection, toggle, flash and pulse width detection functions (click for image)
[new] USER BITFIELD
- User defined data channels where each bit value is determined from the value of any other data/flag channel. The bits can also be set to fixed 0/1 values
- A common usecase is PDU output control and can bus keypad led indicators control
[new] USER COUNTERS
- Configurable counter/timer channels (click for image)
[new] ACTIONS
- User defined actions that can be triggered from any data/flag channel
