“It’s something that can destroy your engine in seconds… but how much do you really know about pre-ignition, knock, and super-knock”? On this episode of the the Tuned In podcast, Andre from the HP Academy has invited Ioannis Andrianakis (PLEX TUNING’s technical director & founder) to discuss through these terms, how his highly-regarded series of knock monitors work, and what one does and does not need to worry about when it comes to all things detonation.

The podcast covers the early days of PLEX, back in the 90s, when Ioannis was focused on customer ECU remaps and goes through all kinds of challenges he faced with the limited technologies and constraints of that decade. It then goes on with the framework and process of developing his own products and systems, primarily to compensate for the gaps in the market and then (best part), continues with a long, in-depth technical discussion on the art and science of knock management.

The listeners will gain a far better understanding of the causes, solutions and variations of knock as Andre and Ioannis delve into the deep end of the knowledge pool and get really nerdy an “all things engine knock”. A trully must-listen talk for anyone involved into performance tuning!
